Memorial Day

It's foggy, drizzly and cold in Colorado Springs today. The streets are lined with flags. We attended the Academy parade this morning and huddled together to keep warm. Tonight is a chorale concert.

The Slayton family has an extra daughter for the week, while I am enjoying the appropriation of 3 younger brothers (22, 19, and 17 yrs. old). Hugs, teasing, joking, talking, and competition galore. The laughs never cease! Micah and I beat Caleb and Uncle Paul at Rook last night. Today I'm brushing up on my ping pong skills and on Weds. it will be racquetball. =)

Plenty of Kenyan coffee is being poured and it's nice to settle down in the couch to read. Hope you all are enjoying the day and taking a break from the normal busyness.

Grocery store romance?

Today as I entered the local grocery store, I couldn't help but smile as I entered. Yet again this would be grand experiment to see if "Mr. tall, dark, and cashier" would find a way to come over to the register/checkout line I walked in to. So far I believe the score is 5 out of 6. I laugh as I write this and remember.

Come along with me next time I go and you can join the fun!! What interesting pick up line might one receive from a grocery store cashier? Any ideas? He hasn't spoken a word to me since....Sara, remember the incident with the ham?? This is the same guy!

CHrgggghhhahahahaha!!!!!

Phantom of the Opera

We now have several ladies waltzing about the house singing melodies from "Phantom of the Opera." What a relaxing weekend and a little time together as a "family" will do to the spirits. I find watching you all during movie-viewing to be more entertaining than the movie itself!! I especially thrive on the questions from the peanut gallery...."AHH!, what's going to happen next?"...."does he die??"...."oooooo, this is too painful to watch, tell me when it's over!"

BLUE cornmeal

So I picked up a bag of blue cornmeal today. Why? because it was 99 cents AND organic. Do I know what I will do with it? No, but I'll soon find some new recipe to try!

No doubt I will have a housemate who will say, "What's this for?" and another..."BLUE?? cornmeal, what's that? I've never eaten that before." And another, "Hmm, needs more salt." And another will say, "I don't like this." And the final one will say, "I like this."

Ahh, yet another Grand Fairvilla experiment.
