"Obey Him with glad reckless joy."

"I know when the proposition comes from God because of its quiet persistence: When I have to weigh the pros and cons, and doubt and debate come in, I am bringing in an element that is not of God, and I come to the conclusion that the suggestion was not a right one. Many of us are loyal to our notions of Jesus Christ, but how many of us are loyal to Him? Loyalty to Jesus means I have to step out where I do not see anything; loyalty to my notions means that I clear the ground first by my intelligence. Faith is not intelligent understanding, faith is deliberate commitment to a Person where I see no way."

Servant's Remorse

It's a classic case of servant's remorse. You regret volunteering to help out with an event because you didn't realize what you were getting into and how much time you would be required to give.

Well I'm regretting the fact that I spent 7 hours last night on my feet after an 8 hour work day, came home with some burns, and got to bed around 1:30! Sigh. And it's not necessarily the time commitment, but the fact that the event was not well-organized or well-staffed. Then there's regretting having servant's remorse! Oh dear I'll stop here.

The scent of summer

Yesterday as I walked around campus with a stack-o-errands, I came across the sneaking scent of summer- crisp, crunchy, and cucumbery. It was then I knew that change was in the air. The entire day was warm, feeling very much like the first day of summer when the evening chill is held at bay until all have slipped into dreamy slumber.

And so it was that evening that I received a call from La Guerita. She is engaged to be married in July. Now I will have two weddings to attend this summer. I'm competing with Ducky for the most weddings attended in one year, but I'm closing in on her 8.

I guess I need to go into the wedding coordinating business after all!
