12 pounds later

of ground beef that is. Now it's time for bed after an 8 hr. day of work, 2 hrs. of which was sexual harassment training (blech!!), 3 1/2 hrs. of vacation Bible school, and 1 hour home alone cooking ground beef for tomorrow's VBS dinner. Life has its crazy days.

Italiano

Ciao. Mi chiamo Dinner Woman.

Yes, I've begun an Italian class. Simply for the fun and joy of learning another language. It's a splendid thing, Italian. Though it will take much time to practice, I'm excited for the chance to begin learning a new language.

Icons

Yesterday I went to the Ghetty and saw the icons of Sinai exhibit; but I was not alone. Two professors whose knowledge includes monasticism, church history, and medieval history and theology created our group of 3. It was a sacred time. I now have a greater appreciation and respect for icons and the artists' devotion to detail when capturing church history in icons. The colors were magnificent and awe-inspiring. Thanks be to God for beauty.

Lofthill loveliness

With 2 sickies, someone talking marriage, someone mourning the death of a pet snake, and the new year hear....we're all in strange moods!

At first I was mourning the loss of 2006, but now I'm quite excited for what lays ahead in 2007. God was faithful, God is faithful, and God will be faithful. We'll see how long the excitement lasts.

Lady Grey

I finally have my Lady Grey back in the drive way!

Though 5 days tooling around in the black 2006 C-class Mercedes was entertaining, it is not a personal favorite. I found myself very self-concious whenever I drove. Driving this car served to remind me how much I hate turning people's heads by what one owns or wears. Facades! Someone asked a friend of mine, "She's driving a new Mercedes. So where does she work and what does she do?" Yuck, I really do dislike it when expensive stuff/things make cause people to take an interest in you.

Points to note about the 2006 C-class Mercedes:
It drives very smoothly.
The pick-up & power of the engine is quite amazing.
It's parched throat won't quite guzzling the gas.
The front bumper is too low & leaves you paranoid you'll hit a curb or parking marker.

Maternity clothes and other things

Today, up here in garlic country, we enjoyed the comforts of a warm home, wise sages, and all the laughs that came with 3 young women giving a fashion show of newly purchased maternity clothes. These 3 women doing the wearing are definitely not pregnant, thus the reason we laughed so hard.

I didn't realize how modest and comfortable maternity clothes are until today. (I suppose this is a good thing; and, now you know I don't go trying on maternity clothes just for the fun of it.) What really baffles me is why maternity clothes are made so modest while so much else out there is not! What would people think if one was to start shopping in the maternity section for the sake of finding modest dresses and tops?

Anyway, we've had a successful shopping day, found some Chrismas presents, ate some turkey sandwichs & pie, and I am now officially allowed to play the first Christmas music. HURRAH!
